Watch out! Many popular assessments are not appropriate for selection. They function like a camera. You can get fantastic pictures from a good camera, as granular or wide angle as you want. Cameras are marvelous tools for taking a snapshot.
Assessments for selection require more sophisticated tools. Imagine a Functional MRI (fMRI) machine. The fMRI examines your insides working live, in real time. It sees your blood pumping and neurons firing. An fMRI evaluates how your body is working, with a high level of operational detail.
To evaluate a candidate with a high level of operational detail you need a sophisticated assessment tool, an fMRI for selection. Psychometrically this is very difficult to achieve. The good ones are expensive and require expert interpretation. That’s for your benefit. Quality counts when making judgments that greatly impact the future of your business and your team.
