Planning for 2018? Bravo! Enjoy this holiday gift of three planning tools:
1. Top 10 Productivity Tips Successful professionals always seek to improve. They add new initiatives with vigor. Often they attempt too much. It’s a perfect formula for burn-out. The Top 10 Productivity Tips will help 2018 be successful AND satisfying.
2. 90 Day Goal Planning Worksheet Future planning is important, but predicting what you will be able to execute a year ahead is a challenge. External circumstances often change dramatically over a year, making the goal unattainable. By year’s end we may feel defeated rather than satisfied.
Instead of trying to predict a whole year, focus on 90 Day planning. You can realistically visualize three months ahead. You can also adapt to situational changes when planning in 90 Day segments. Monthly and weekly planning becomes much more relevant, with a 90 Day vision. Use the 90 Day Planning Worksheet to record the What & Why of your goals, 30, 60 & 90 Day Milestones, and outline the How, all on 1 page. Definitely have a long term vision. Then plan in 90 day segments. Execute realistic goals every 90 days and you will achieve results by year end.
3. Results & Actions Worksheet After completing the 90 day goal planning use the Results & Actions Worksheet to record your bi-weekly progress and next actions. Record the big What and Why from your 90 day vision. Note activities to energize you in the Feed my Engine segment. Good sleep, diet, exercise, and other rejuvenation disciplines are essential for sustainable success, plan for them. Celebrate Results over 14, 30, 60 & 90 days and plan Actions for Now. Finally, note Idea, & Strategies, all on the 1 page Results & Actions Worksheet
Let me know how these tools work for you, they are intentionally simple. Many planning systems, that are supposed to make things easier, require great effort. They tend to work for people who are detail-oriented. Ironically, you have to be naturally good at planning and organization to get any benefit.
People who are not naturally detail-oriented need the help the most, but can’t tolerate a complex system. If that describes you, don’t feel bad! If you have to work too hard, it’s the wrong system for you. Instead, find a simple system that you will execute. If these tools help, fantastic!
My purpose is to partner with people to both feel good AND succeed. Happy Planning!
