Let’s talk about Women & Money! For the last year I have been writing a book (The $14 Trillion Woman) about the power of women in the marketplace. It has been an eye-opening experience! I want to journal my research and continue to add as I go. Please read the Welcome! page to learn more about me and why I am writing this blog.
As a psychology person I am fascinated by people. There is a lot more going on with Women & Money than just dollars & cents. This topic touchs all aspects of our lives ( men and women) and reflects the changes in society we’ve seen over several decades.
I will be adding tidbits that I have learned in research, themes that have arisen and stories I hear from ‘real people’. I also want to hear from you! What experiences have you had in your life relating to Women & Money? This may seem like a place only for women, but I encourage (and truly hope) that men join the conversation. We can all learn from each other. Everyone’s experience is valuable!
Story of the Day: Financial Heroes
Yesterday, I spoke at a meeting of women investors (thank you to Nick and Alethia for inviting me to speak). I learned something important. Financial heroes exist. What a relief! The media has been driving the image of greedy money-men and people like Madoff have tainted the entire profession. We’re all wondering if we can trust anybody. How sad.
Take heart good advisors are out there! The advisor team I visited yesterday has been helping clients with honor and integrity for decades. The senior advisor on the team held his first financial education workshop for women in 1978! He is truly a pioneer in serving women clients. One of his clients told me that she’s worked with this advisor team for 30 years and would trust them with her life. That’s powerful. In fact – she is trusting them with a most important part of her life – her money!
Good people are out there! Women (and men) let’s find them and support them. We all benefit from promoting quality!
Fact of the Day: $14 Trillion and counting……
Women control 50% of all the wealth in the United States – an estimated $14 trillion in assets.
